About the Artist

Jozef Bukovcak has been drawing for as long as he can remember. As a child he was constantly sketching and exploring visual expression.

He grew up in Czechoslovakia during the communist era in a Catholic family, a context that made it impossible for him to pursue formal studies in art. Instead, he studied at a technical university. After the fall of communism, he founded CrazyFly Kiteboarding, a company that grew into a global brand producing kites and boards for kitesurfing.

For more than twenty-six years Jozef served as the CEO and head product designer, combining technical thinking with a strong visual sensibility. CrazyFly remained a family business and today it is led by his four sons.

After stepping away from the company, Jozef returned to his lifelong passion for drawing and painting. He now focuses on abstract painting, exploring structure, gesture and layered colour through an intuitive process developed in his studio.

Nature, space and the balance between order and spontaneity are central inspirations in his work. His paintings aim to create calm, contemplative visual environments that interact naturally with contemporary interiors and architecture.

This new chapter allows him to fully dedicate his time and energy to painting and to share his work with a wider audience.

Artist Statement

Jozef Bukovcak’s abstract paintings explore the relationship between structure, gesture and spatial balance. Working with layered colour, subtle textures and geometric elements, he develops compositions that emerge gradually through a process of building, reducing and revealing forms.

His approach combines intuition with a strong sense of structure, reflecting both his artistic sensibility and his background in design. The paintings often evolve through multiple layers, where earlier marks remain partially visible and become part of the final composition.

Inspired by nature, movement and architectural space, Bukovcak’s works seek to create calm yet dynamic visual environments. The paintings invite the viewer into a contemplative dialogue between order and spontaneity, surface and depth.

Many of his works are created in larger formats and are intended to interact naturally with contemporary interiors and architectural spaces.

Custom paintings can be created for specific interiors with tailored size and color palette.
